COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Economics at Mount Saint Vincent University requires students to successfully complete 20.0 units, or 23.0 units if they choose the co-operative education option, designed to provide a strong foundation in business principles while emphasizing economic theory and analysis. Required courses include foundational business courses such as BUSI 1112, 2202/THMT 2202, 2214, 2215, 2230, 2231, 2259, 2321, 3308, 3311 or 3312, 3320, 3360, 3361, 4400, alongside essential mathematics courses MATH 2208 and 2209, or MATH 2500 (with successful completion of a mathematics placement test), and ECON 1101 and 1102. Students also complete 4.5 units of business, tourism, or economics electives, 3.5 units of Arts and Science electives, and 0.5–1.0 unit of free electives depending on mathematics course selection. For the Economics concentration specifically, students take ECON 1101 and 1102 and an additional 3.0 units of economics courses, allowing a main focus on economic theory, applied analysis, and decision-making in complex business environments. This structure ensures graduates develop strong analytical and quantitative skills, preparing them for careers in private enterprise, government, consulting, finance, or further professional certification, while combining general business knowledge with specialized economic expertise to address challenges in a dynamic global economy.
