COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University requires students to complete 20.0 units, encompassing a major, minor, core requirements, and electives. The psychology major consists of 8.0 to 10.0 units, beginning with foundational courses PSYC 1110 and 1120, followed by intermediate courses PSYC 2221, 2222, and 3301. Students select 0.5 unit from advanced courses such as PSYC 3330, 3331, 3335, 4405, 4406, 4407, 4417, or 4432, 1.0 unit from the Applied/Social stream, and 1.0 unit from the Biological/Cognitive stream, covering essential areas of psychology. An additional 3.0 units of PSYC are required, with at least 3.0 units at the 3000 level or above, and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the required 8.0 units of PSYC. Core requirements include MATH 2208 and 2209, as well as 0.5 unit from COMM 1501, COMM/PBRL 2211, LIBR 2100, or WRIT 1120. Students must complete a 3.0-unit minor in a science discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Physics, Science Communication, Statistics and Data Analytics, or designated Applied Human Nutrition courses, with a minimum GPA of 2.0, and may choose a second minor if desired. Additional requirements include 1.0 unit from each Core group B (Social Sciences) and C (Humanities), while Core A is fulfilled by the mathematics courses. At least 9.0 units must be at the 2000 level or above, ensuring a rigorous and well-rounded science-focused education in psychology.
