COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematical theory, problem-solving, and analytical skills, preparing them for careers in science, technology, and related fields, or for further study in graduate programs. Students must successfully complete 20.0 units, including a minimum of 8.0 and a maximum of 10.0 units in the major. Core courses include MATH 1113, 1114, 2211, and 2221, totaling 2.0 units, along with an additional 6.0 units depending on the chosen area of specialization. For those specializing in Mathematics, required courses include MATH 2208 or 2500, 2212, 2222, 2225, 3311, 3314, and 3325, plus 1.5 units of 3000-level mathematics and 1.0 unit at any level. Students in the Statistics specialization take MATH 2208 and 2209 or MATH 2500 with an additional 0.5 unit, courses selected from 2206, 2283, 2284, 2225, 2212 or 2222, and advanced courses 3303, 3304, 3307, and 3407, along with an additional 1.0 unit at the 3000 level or above. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the required 8.0 units. Additional requirements include CMPS 1155, a 3.0-unit science minor, optional second minor or electives, and 1.0 unit from each core area of General Studies. At least 9.0 units must be at the 2000 level or above, ensuring a rigorous and comprehensive mathematical education.
