COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is designed for students with a focused interest in gaining in-depth knowledge of the discipline, emphasizing both theoretical understanding and practical application. Students must declare their intention to pursue the major before registering for their sixth unit of coursework, as late declarations are not permitted. The program also offers a limited enrollment internship option to provide experiential learning opportunities. To successfully complete the degree, students must complete 20.0 units, including a minimum of 8.0 and a maximum of 10.0 units in the chemistry major, with core courses such as CHEM 1011, 1012, 2101, 2201, 2301, 2302, 2401, 2402, 3101, 3102, 3401, 3402, 3501, and 3502 totaling 7.0 units, along with 1.0 additional unit at the 3000 level or above, maintaining a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in the required chemistry units. Students must also complete 1.0 unit of physics (PHYS 1101 and 1102), 1.0 unit of mathematics (MATH 1113 and 1114) fulfilling Core A requirements, and 0.5 unit of additional MATH or CMPS. A 3.0-unit science minor is required, with the option of a second minor or up to 2.5 units of electives. Students must also complete 1.0 unit from each core group B and C and ensure at least 9.0 units are at the 2000 level or above, ensuring a rigorous and comprehensive science education.
