COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nutrition program within the BScAHN is ideal for students who wish to combine focused studies in nutrition with the flexibility to explore a broad range of electives. Nutrition is the study of the relationships among food, its nutrients, the environment, and health, and this program equips students with both foundational knowledge and practical skills to pursue diverse career paths. Careful selection of electives allows graduates to seek opportunities in areas such as commodity marketing boards, food retailing, government agencies, social services, homemaking services, and the agri-food sector. Graduates may also continue their studies for careers in school-based or community teaching, research, or business. Students must complete a total of 20.0 units, including core courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and nutrition, with required nutrition courses spanning topics such as introductory nutrition, human metabolism, and advanced nutrition studies. Additionally, students complete 10.5 units of electives, including upper-level nutrition courses and arts or science courses, with seven units freely chosen to support career objectives. A minimum GPA of 2.0 in six units of nutrition courses is required, and students may also complete a three-unit minor in a complementary discipline. Consultation with an advisor is encouraged to ensure elective choices align with professional goals and interests.
