COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dietetics program within the BScAHN is designed for students who aspire to become professional dietitians, legally registered to practice in Canadian provinces. The program aligns with the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice (ICDEP) and meets EQual™ Canada guidelines, allowing graduates to apply for a dietetic internship and ultimately achieve registration. Dietetics integrates the science and art of food, nutrition, and health to support the nutritional well-being of individuals and communities. Graduates are prepared for careers in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, long-term care, home care, community nutrition, fitness centres, and private practice, as well as non-traditional roles in supermarkets, food industry, sales, and healthcare management. Students complete a total of 20.0 units, including foundational courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and nutrition, along with specialized dietetics courses covering advanced nutrition, clinical practice, and applied food science. Electives allow students to tailor their education to career goals and may include additional nutrition courses, food science, business, arts, and science courses. A minimum GPA of 2.0 in eight units of nutrition courses is required, and students may pursue a three-unit minor in another discipline. This program equips graduates with the expertise, practical skills, and flexibility necessary for diverse professional opportunities in dietetics and nutrition.
