COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies at the Mount is designed for students with a focused interest in understanding gender, society, and the diverse experiences of women, offering an honours, major, or minor pathway. Students intending to complete the major must declare their intention before registering for their sixth unit of coursework, and those who miss this deadline cannot continue in the program. The program also offers a limited-enrollment internship option, allowing students to gain practical experience in related fields. To fulfill the degree requirements, students must successfully complete 20.0 units, including a minimum of 8.0 and a maximum of 10.0 units in the major, consisting of foundational courses such as WOMS 1110 and 1112, intermediate courses like WOMS 3309 or 3310 and WOMS 3311 or 3312, and advanced courses including WOMS 4411 or 4412. Additionally, 5.5 units of Women’s Studies or departmental Women-Emphasis courses must be completed, with at least 0.5 unit from two different departments and a minimum of 2.5 units at the 3000 level or above, maintaining an overall GPA of 2.0 in the required 8.0 units. Students must also complete a 3.0-unit minor, may select a second minor, fulfill 1.0 unit from each core group A, B, and C, and ensure that at least 9.0 units are at the 2000 level or above, providing a well-rounded and interdisciplinary education in women’s studies.
