COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University requires students to successfully complete 20.0 units, including a major, minor, core requirements, and electives. The major consists of 8.0 to 10.0 units, beginning with foundational courses PSYC 1110 and 1120, followed by intermediate courses PSYC 2221, 2222, and 3301. Students also select 0.5 unit from advanced courses such as PSYC 3330, 3331, 3335, 4405, 4406, 4407, 4417, or 4432, 1.0 unit from the Applied/Social stream, and 1.0 unit from the Biological/Cognitive stream, ensuring coverage of key areas in psychology. An additional 3.0 units of PSYC are required, with at least 3.0 units at the 3000 level or above, and a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the required 8.0 units of PSYC. Core requirements include MATH 2208 and 2209, and 0.5 unit from communication or library studies courses. Students must complete a 3.0-unit minor in an Arts or Professional Studies discipline, with the option to pursue a second minor. Additional requirements include 1.0 unit from each Core group B (Social Sciences) and C (Humanities), while Core A (Sciences & Mathematics) is fulfilled by the math courses. At least 9.0 units must be at the 2000 level or above, and no more than 4.0 units from professional areas may be counted toward the degree, ensuring a well-rounded liberal arts education.
