COURSE CURRICULUM

English major at the Mount must complete a total of 20.0 units, with a minimum of 8.0 and a maximum of 10.0 units within the major. Core requirements include introductory courses in English, intermediate courses that develop critical reading and writing skills, and a range of advanced electives at the 2000, 3000, and 4000 levels, allowing students to explore literature, language, and theory in depth. Students select courses that span multiple genres, historical periods, and critical approaches, ensuring both breadth and specialization in their studies. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required in the 8.0 units of major coursework. In addition to the major, students complete a 3.0-unit minor in a discipline of their choice, with the option to pursue a second minor or additional electives, allowing for interdisciplinary study and intellectual flexibility. The program also requires students to fulfill general education components, including one unit each in sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and humanities, promoting a well-rounded academic foundation. At least 9.0 units must be at the 2000 level or above, emphasizing upper-level coursework and advanced study.
