COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Communication is designed for students with a focused interest in developing in-depth knowledge of the communication discipline. Students must declare their major before registering for their sixth unit of coursework, and an internship option is available on a limited-enrollment basis. To graduate, students must complete 20.0 units, including 8.0 in the major with specific required courses: COMM 1015, 2013/PBRL 2013, 2101, 3013/PBRL 3013, 3016, 3102, 4200, LIBR 2100, PHIL 2229 or POLS 2203, WRIT 1120, and either CULS 1101 or WOMS 2231. Students must also complete 1.5 additional units of COMM at the 2000 level or above and 1.0 unit in a single modern language. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the 8.0 units of the major. In addition, students must complete a 3.0-unit minor in another discipline with at least a 2.0 GPA and 1.0 unit from each Bachelor of Arts core group: Core A (Sciences & Mathematics), Core B (Social Sciences), and Core C (Humanities). At least 9.0 units must be at the 2000 level or above and 3.0 at the 3000 level or higher, ensuring both depth and breadth of academic study.
