COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours program in Environmental Science at Mount Allison University builds on the comprehensive 69-credit Major program, requiring a total of 75 credits and offering students the opportunity to pursue advanced, specialized study in environmental science. The program begins with the foundational and intermediate courses of the Major, including general studies courses (GENS 1401, 2421, 2101, 2111, 2411, 2441, 2881), core science courses in biology, chemistry, and physics (BIOL 1001, 2101, BIOC 1001, CHEM 1001, PHYS 1041, 1051), and mathematics courses (MATH 1111, 1151, 1311), alongside interdisciplinary courses such as BIOL 2701 and GENS 2431. Building on this foundation, Honours students take advanced courses such as GENS 4421, which allows for focused study in a specialized area of environmental science, and GENS 4990, a capstone project that integrates research, analysis, and practical application under faculty supervision. This structure emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing students to conduct independent research, critically analyze environmental issues, and propose sustainable solutions.
