COURSE CURRICULUM

A major in Physics requires the completion of 63 credits, carefully structured to provide a strong foundation in both the physical sciences and supporting disciplines. The program begins with core physics courses, including PHYS 1051 and PHYS 1551, which introduce fundamental concepts and develop problem-solving skills essential for advanced study. Complementary coursework in chemistry, such as CHEM 1001 and CHEM 1021, and in the biological sciences, including BIOL 1001, BIOL 1501, BIOC 1001, GENS 1401, and PSYC 1001 or PSYC 1011, ensures a well-rounded understanding of the scientific context in which physics operates. Computational and mathematical proficiency is emphasized through courses like COMP 1631 and a sequence of mathematics courses—MATH 1111, 1151, 1121, 2111, and 2121—providing the analytical tools necessary for modeling and problem-solving in physics.
