COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours in Computer Science at Mount Allison University is a 75-credit program designed for students seeking advanced study and research experience in computing. It builds on the 60-credit B.A. Computer Science major, which provides a strong foundation in programming, algorithms, data structures, and essential computational theory, while integrating complementary courses from arts, humanities, and social sciences to develop well-rounded analytical and problem-solving skills. Beyond the major, Honours students complete 3 additional credits from Computer Science at the 3/4000 level, allowing for deeper exploration of specialized topics in areas such as artificial intelligence, software design, cryptography, or networks. Another 6 credits are chosen from advanced Computer Science or Mathematics courses at the 3/4000 level, strengthening technical and quantitative expertise essential for tackling complex computational problems. A central component of the Honours program is the 6-credit COMP 4990 course, which provides students with the opportunity to conduct original research under faculty supervision, fostering independent inquiry, critical thinking, and practical application of advanced computational methods.
