COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours program in Cognitive Science at Mount Allison University, available as either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc), is a 75-credit program designed for students seeking advanced interdisciplinary study of the mind and its processes. The program builds upon the 60 credits required for the respective B.A. or B.Sc. Major, ensuring a strong foundation in core courses in psychology and computer science, with complementary studies in philosophy, mathematics, and sciences for B.Sc. students. In addition to the Major requirements, Honours students complete 6 credits in COGS 4990, an advanced research or thesis course that allows for independent investigation under faculty supervision, fostering skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scholarly communication. Students also select 9 additional credits from a curated list of advanced courses, with at least 6 credits from a single discipline, in consultation with the Program Advisor. Options include computer science courses such as COMP 3651, 3851, 3611, and 4951; philosophy courses including PHIL 3221, 3231, 3351, 3631, 3711, 4511, 4521, 4611, and 4951; physics courses such as PHYS 3581, 3361, and 4951 (B.Sc. only); and psychology courses including PSYC 3001, 3101, 3111, 3201, 3211, 4101, and 4951. The program prepares students for graduate study, research, and professional careers requiring interdisciplinary, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
