COURSE CURRICULUM

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) major in Psychology at Mount Allison requires the completion of 60 credits, combining a strong foundation in psychology with complementary courses in arts, letters, humanities, and social sciences. The program includes 42 credits in Psychology, beginning with introductory courses PSYC 1001 and PSYC 1011 (6 credits) that provide a broad overview of the field and its core concepts. Students then advance to intermediate courses such as PSYC 2001 and 2011, as well as PSYC 2101, 2201, and 2301 (16 credits), which deepen understanding in areas like developmental, cognitive, social, and biological psychology. Upper-level study includes 12 credits in 3000- and 4000-level Psychology courses, with a maximum of 3 credits from PSYC 4950 or 513, allowing students to explore specialized topics and develop research skills. Additionally, 9 credits of Psychology at the 4000-level, excluding PSYC 4950 or 519, provide opportunities for advanced coursework and independent study under faculty guidance. Complementing these core psychology courses, students complete 18 credits from related disciplines in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, chosen in consultation with the Program Advisor, fostering interdisciplinary perspectives and critical thinking.
