COURSE CURRICULUM

The Major in Philosophy is a more extensive 60-credit program designed for in-depth engagement with philosophical thought and critical analysis. It begins with 6 credits from the Humanities 1600 series and 3 credits from PHIL 2611, followed by 3 to 9 credits from Philosophy courses at the 2000 level. Students then complete 12 credits from a core set of courses including PHIL 3000, 3011, 3101, 3221, 3231, 3240, 3250, 3301, 3311, 3351, and 3891, ensuring exposure to key areas of the discipline. An additional 12 to 18 credits are taken at the 3000 or 4000 level, with at least 6 credits at the 4000 level, allowing for specialization. Finally, 18 credits are drawn from complementary courses in Arts and Letters and Humanities, chosen in consultation with the Program Advisor, fostering interdisciplinary breadth alongside philosophical depth.
