COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Fine Arts at Mount Allison offers students the opportunity to pursue a major in Fine Arts while benefiting from the flexibility of a liberal arts education. As a BA student, you will engage in a combination of studio courses and art history, developing both practical artistic skills and critical understanding of visual culture. The program emphasizes creative exploration through studio work in areas such as drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, while art history courses provide the analytical and contextual framework to evaluate and discuss artistic works. Unlike the Bachelor of Fine Arts, the BA in Fine Arts allows for greater academic breadth, enabling students to complement their Fine Arts studies with courses in other disciplines, thereby fostering interdisciplinary learning and exploration. The BA Fine Arts program requires the completion of 120 credits, comprising 60 credits in Fine Arts, 24 credits in a chosen minor, and 36 credits in electives and distribution courses. This structure allows students to tailor their degree to their personal interests and career goals, while still receiving a solid foundation in artistic practice and visual literacy. Graduates leave the program equipped with both creative expertise and the analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills essential for success in diverse professional paths or further graduate studies in the arts.
