COURSE CURRICULUM

Drama Studies program offers students a comprehensive education in drama within a collaborative and creative environment, emphasizing both theoretical understanding and practical experience. Students begin with foundational courses such as DRAM 1701 (Introduction to Drama Studies), DRAM 2151 (Introduction to Acting), DRAM 2161 (Theatre Production), and DRAM 2991 (Playwriting and Dramaturgy), progressing to advanced studies including DRAM 3151 (Principles of Directing), DRAM 3841 (Modern Canadian Drama), and DRAM 4991 (Comedy of Menace). The program encourages independent projects in the final year, allowing students to design and execute major theatrical work under the mentorship of faculty. Led by Dr. Sarah Fanning, the program integrates experiential learning and prepares students for diverse career paths, including acting, directing, stage management, set and costume design, sound and lighting design, arts administration, drama therapy, advertising, and human resources. Students benefit from the versatile Motyer-Fancy Theatre, which hosts multiple productions each year, providing hands-on experience in performance and technical roles alongside professional directors and senior students
