COURSE CURRICULUM

The B.A. Joint Major in Computer Science and Music at Mount Allison University is a 90-credit program designed to provide an integrated education in both disciplines, balancing technical skills with artistic development. Students begin with foundational courses, earning 9 credits from mathematics courses including MATH 1151, 1121, and 2221, which provide essential analytical and problem-solving skills. In Computer Science, students complete 27 credits from core courses such as COMP 1631, 1731, 2211, 2611, 2711, 2931, 3361, 3611, and 3811, followed by 6 credits from advanced COMP courses including 3711, 3831, 3911, and 3971, building a strong computational foundation. Physics contributes 13 credits through PHYS 1401, supporting scientific understanding and technical competence. Music studies are central to the program, with 30 credits from courses including MUSC 1101, 1201, 1221, 1703, 2141, 2151, 2171, 3141, 3151, and 3171, alongside 19 credits from additional Music courses such as MUSC 1111, 1211, 1991*, 2021, 2101, 2111, 2121, 2201, 2211, 2703, 2991*, 3001, 3121, 3161, 3991*, and 4991*. Ensemble participation contributes 3 credits through MUSC 1619–4619, 1629–4629, 1639–4639, 1649–4649, 1659–4659, 1669–4669, 1689–4689, or 1699–4699, with a further 3 credits from MUSC 4951.
