COURSE CURRICULUM

The Commerce program at Mount Allison University offers both a Minor and a Major within the Bachelor of Arts framework, providing students with a comprehensive foundation in business principles alongside complementary liberal arts studies. The Minor in Commerce requires 24 credits, including 6 credits from introductory courses COMM 1011 and 1411, 16 credits from ECON 1001 and 1011 (with the option to substitute up to 3 credits from a Mathematics or Computer Science course), and 12 additional Commerce credits, of which at least 6 must be at the 3/4000 level, allowing students to gain advanced exposure to business concepts while maintaining flexibility in their course selection. The Major in Commerce is a 60-credit program designed to provide a strong foundation in key business disciplines while integrating analytical and quantitative skills. It includes 15 credits from core courses such as COMM 1011, 1411, 2101, 2131, 2201, and 2301, 3 credits from Computer Science or Mathematics (excluding MATH 1011), 6 credits from ECON 1001 and 1011, 24 credits in Commerce courses with at least 21 at the 3/4000 level, and 12 credits of complementary courses chosen in consultation with an advisor. This structure ensures students develop a well-rounded understanding of business theory and practice, preparing them for professional careers or further study in commerce and related fields.
