COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology diploma program is structured to equip students with both foundational knowledge and specialized expertise, preparing them for diverse roles in IT. In the first year, all students take a common core curriculum to build essential skills: Professional Communications I (ITEC 100) develops workplace communication; A+ Computer Technology I and II (ITEC 110 and ITEC 130) build hardware and system knowledge; Applied Mathematics (ITEC 120) and Programming Fundamentals I and II (ITEC 140 and ITEC 145) establish analytical and coding skills; Application Software (ITEC 150) and IT Systems Support (ITEC 155) focus on software use and user support; Networking Fundamentals (ITEC 170) introduces network concepts; and Web Development I (ITEC 190) lays web programming basics. In Year Two, students focusing on Software and Internet Development take advanced courses in Emerging Technologies I (ITEC 230), Database Management I and II (ITEC 270 and ITEC 275), Systems Analysis & Design (PROG 210), Intermediate Programming (PROG 225), Dynamic Web Application Development (PROG 245), and Advanced Programming (PROG 280), along with Web Server Administration (ITEC 240) and Business and Accounting Principles (ITEC 281). These courses deepen students' understanding of cutting-edge developments, database architecture, complex coding, web servers, and how IT ties into business operations. By starting with a shared foundational semester, the program allows flexibility to explore different areas before committing to a major. Graduates of the Software and Internet track emerge well-rounded, capable IT professionals with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, ready to design applications, manage databases, and build dynamic web solutions for the modern workplace.
