COURSE CURRICULUM

The Engineering Design and Architectural Technology program spans two years of structured study, providing students with both foundational knowledge and applied technical skills across mechanical, civil, and building design disciplines. In the first year, Term 1 introduces students to drafting and computer-aided design through courses such as Drafting I, CADD Applications I and II, and CADD Labs, alongside Sustainability & Systems Thinking and Technical Math to build essential analytical and problem-solving skills. Term 2 expands into specialized design fundamentals with Drafting II, Mechanical Design I – Applied Physics, Civil Design I – Civil Design Fundamentals, and Building Design I – Building Systems, complemented by courses in Technical Communications and Construction Methods to enhance professional communication and industry knowledge. In the second year, Term 3 advances students’ design capabilities with Digital Design/Presentation, Mechanical Design II, Civil Design II, Building Design II, and Design Strategies, integrating creative problem-solving with practical applications. Term 4 focuses on higher-level technical proficiency and project integration through Mechanical Design III, Piping & Control Systems, Civil Design III, Building Design III, and a Capstone project that synthesizes skills from all three disciplines. Across the program, students gain hands-on experience in drafting, 3D modeling, system analysis, and design strategy, preparing them for professional roles as engineering technicians capable of contributing to mechanical innovations, civil infrastructure, and building design solutions.
