COURSE CURRICULUM

The Acupuncture program consists of 101 credits completed over three years, combining theoretical study, clinical training, and professional development to prepare students for practice as Registered Acupuncturists in Alberta. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) through courses such as Foundations of Chinese Medicine I and II, Meridian Systems and Acupuncture Points I–II, Diagnostics in TCM, Physiology I and II, Applied Human Anatomy, and Introduction to Medical Microbiology. They also study Medical Terminology, Research Methodology, and begin Clinical Observation. Year 2 advances to more specialized topics including Internal Therapeutics I–II, Acupuncture Safety, Therapeutic Principles of Acupuncture, Extra Meridians and Microsystems, Qi Gong and Tui Na, Herbology, and Pathophysiology, alongside the first Internship experience and courses in Professional Ethics and Acupuncture Regulations. Year 3 focuses on clinical mastery and integration, featuring Diagnostics in TCM II, Nutrition and Lifestyle, Internal and External Therapeutics III–IV, multiple Internships, Clinical Case Studies, Pharmacological Therapy, and Practice Management for Healthcare Professionals. This rigorous and comprehensive curriculum equips students with the diagnostic, therapeutic, and ethical competencies necessary for safe and effective acupuncture practice within regulated healthcare settings.
