COURSE CURRICULUM

The Insurance and Risk Management program requires students to complete 60 credits, typically consisting of 20 courses that combine foundational business knowledge with specialized insurance education. Core business courses include accounting, managerial information systems, management, marketing, business law, sustainable business, and global supply chain management, providing a broad understanding of organizational operations and strategic decision-making. Students also strengthen essential skills in analysis, quantitative decision-making, computing, advanced business writing, and personal selling to ensure well-rounded professional competence. The program’s specialized insurance courses cover the full spectrum of the industry, including insurance principles and practices, property, automobile, and liability insurance, underwriting essentials, loss adjusting, and essential skills for brokers and agents. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, students develop the analytical, regulatory, and technical expertise needed to navigate the complexities of insurance operations. This structured curriculum prepares graduates to understand insurance products, assess risk, manage claims, and operate effectively within brokerage or corporate environments. Completing this program also positions students to pursue professional certification through the Insurance Institute of Canada, including a pathway toward the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
