COURSE CURRICULUM

The Office Assistant program with a Legal major is designed to equip students with the specialized knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed as a legal assistant in today’s professional environment. The program consists of 45 credits of fully prescribed courses, structured to develop administrative proficiency, legal knowledge, and technological competence. Core courses include Office Procedures, Office Technology I and II, Business Communication I, II, and III, Business Math, Bookkeeping and Accounting, First Year Writing, and an Office Assistant Field Placement, providing students with essential office management skills, hands-on experience, and the ability to communicate effectively in professional settings. Legal major-specific courses, such as Introduction to Law I and II, Corporate Procedures in the Law Office, and Legal Office Documents I and II, build a solid understanding of legal processes, terminology, and documentation practices, enabling graduates to perform efficiently in law firms, corporate legal departments, or government offices. The program follows a strict sequence, with courses offered in designated terms, ensuring students develop foundational skills before advancing to more complex legal office tasks.
