COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics Honours requires students to complete 120 credits of non-duplicative coursework, with 81 to 84 credits dedicated to the honours program, including a minimum of 12 credits at the 400-level, such as STAT 499 Honours Thesis. Admission requires completion of at least 45 university-level credits applicable to the program with a minimum GPA of 3.0, including STAT 265 and STAT 266, with at least 24 of the credits completed in the last 12 months and a minimum GPA of 3.3 across all senior-level STAT courses. Once admitted, students must maintain these GPA requirements or risk reverting to the BSc Applied Statistics Major. The program combines core courses in applied statistics, probability, mathematical statistics, calculus, and linear algebra with advanced courses in applied multivariate statistics, regression analysis, generalized linear models, design and analysis of experiments, sampling theory, and applied time series analysis. Students also complete a statistical consulting project and an honours thesis under faculty supervision, gaining research and practical experience in solving real-world problems. The program allows the completion of a minor of 18 senior-level credits and requires students to fulfill BSc Breadth Requirements. Option courses provide additional flexibility, enabling students to choose arts, science, or out-of-faculty courses. The Applied Statistics Honours program equips graduates with strong analytical, computational, and research skills applicable to advanced study and diverse careers in industry, government, and research.
