COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Major at MacEwan University provides students with a rigorous and comprehensive foundation in mathematical theory, problem-solving, and analytical thinking, preparing them for a wide range of careers or further study in graduate programs. The program begins with essential courses such as Elementary Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra, and Fundamental Concepts of Math, building the core skills necessary for higher-level mathematical reasoning. As students advance, they engage in Intermediate Calculus, Linear Algebra II, Abstract Algebra or Geometry, Real Analysis, and Ordinary Differential Equations, deepening their understanding of mathematical structures and methods. Beyond these specific major requirements, students select 15 to 30 credits of senior-level mathematics, including options in statistics courses such as STAT 265, 266, 312, or 412, to further broaden their expertise. The program also allows flexibility through a secondary major or one or two minors in Arts or Science, providing opportunities to tailor studies to individual interests and career goals. Additionally, students may choose up to 18 credits in out-of-faculty or elective courses, supporting interdisciplinary learning and exploration. By completing 120 total credits, graduates develop strong problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical skills, equipping them to succeed in mathematics-intensive fields such as research, technology, finance, and applied sciences.
