COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences Major at MacEwan University requires the completion of 120 credits and provides a comprehensive foundation in the life sciences while offering flexibility for specialized study. Specific major requirements include courses such as Introduction to Cell Biology, Introduction to Evolution, Principles of Genetics, and Principles of Ecology, providing essential knowledge of fundamental biological concepts. Students also complete 30 to 48 credits from junior- or senior-level courses in biological sciences, including BIOL, BICM, BOTN, GENE, or ZOOL, with the option to use SCIE 201 to satisfy these requirements. In addition, students may pursue a secondary Science or Arts major, or one or two minors, with all minor courses completed at the senior level, allowing for interdisciplinary exploration and academic breadth. Program options include Arts and Science courses or up to 18 credits in out-of-faculty subjects, giving students the flexibility to tailor their education to their interests and career goals.
