COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics Major requires students to complete 120 credits of non-duplicative coursework, combining a focused study of statistics with additional academic exploration through a minor, two minors, or a secondary Science major. The Applied Statistics Major consists of 42 to 60 credits, including a minimum of 36 senior-level credits and at least six credits at the 400-level. Core courses include Intermediate Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra II, Probability Theory I, Mathematical Statistics, Sampling Theory and Applications or Design and Analysis of Experiments, Applied Regression Analysis, and a Statistical Consulting Project, providing students with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in statistical methods. Students must also complete prerequisite courses such as STAT 151 or STAT 161, MATH 114 and 115, one of MATH 120 or 125, and CMPT 101 or 103, which also fulfill degree breadth requirements. General major requirements include 18 to 36 credits from junior- and senior-level STAT courses, with the option to include DATA 200. Students may also complete a secondary major or one or two minors, with minor courses at the senior level. Additional flexibility is provided through option courses, allowing up to 18 credits from Arts, Science, or out-of-faculty courses. The program equips graduates with analytical, computational, and research skills applicable to careers in industry, government, and research, as well as preparation for advanced studies in statistics and related fields.
