COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music Performance major requires students to complete a comprehensive program that balances core music studies, major-specific courses, program options, and electives, totaling 128 credits. The Core Year Requirements consist of 36 credits, including 30 credits of foundational music courses and 6 credits of university-level English, designed to develop both musical and academic skills. Core courses include ENGL 102 Analysis and Argument, with a choice of an additional English course from ENGL 103, 104, or 105, alongside essential music courses such as MUSC 103 Theory I: Introduction to Music Theory, MUSC 104 Theory II: Harmony, Voice Leading, and Function, MUSC 111 and 112 Ear Training I and II, MUSC 123 Musicology I: Historical Musicology, and principal instrument studies MUSC 131 and 132. Students also participate in master classes (MUSC 141 and 142) and performance ensembles (MUSC 188 and 189) to gain practical experience, and explore music technology through MUSC 263 Introduction to Music Technology and Production. Beyond the core, the program includes 38 to 74 credits of major-specific courses to refine performance skills and musical knowledge, 15 to 18 credits for a minor or optional focus area, 6 to 36 credits of program options, and 12 to 18 credits of electives, providing flexibility to tailor the degree to personal interests and professional goals, preparing graduates for diverse careers in music performance, production, and related fields.
