COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Theatre Performance major within the Bachelor of Fine Arts program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop versatile, skilled performers ready for professional careers in musical theatre. The program combines rigorous training in acting, voice, and dance with academic coursework that fosters a well-rounded understanding of the arts. Students complete core courses in acting, voice, dance, and music theory and ear training across multiple levels, from introductory to advanced, ensuring progressive skill development. English courses, such as Analysis and Argument and approaches to literature, provide critical thinking and communication skills, while arts-focused courses like The Arts in Culture and First Peoples and the Arts contextualize performance within broader cultural and societal frameworks. Students also engage in interdisciplinary studies and applied courses, including AGAD and INTA options, allowing exploration of related artistic disciplines. Performance requirements include selecting six credits from professional-level theatre productions, providing practical stage experience. Electives, totaling fifteen credits, enable students to tailor their studies, including options in arts management, visual arts, music, and specialized theatre courses.
