COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design program requires students to complete 120 credits, offering a comprehensive foundation in visual communication, digital design, and creative problem-solving. Core courses include drawing, typography, design software, and studio-based learning such as Visual Organization, Process and Context, and Applied Design Research. Foundational classes like ARTE 110, DESN 110, and DESN 120 build essential skills in composition, design principles, and software tools, while advanced courses such as DESN 310, DESN 311, DESN 344, and DESN 415 emphasize branding, interaction design, information design, and capstone projects. Students also study design history, business practices, and research methods to strengthen their professional understanding. The curriculum includes 6 credits of program options within the DESN subject area and 24 credits of electives, with at least 9 credits from social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics) and 3 from the School of Business. English courses such as ENGL 102 and an additional literature-based English credit support communication and critical analysis skills. Through a blend of creative exploration, digital literacy, and strategic design thinking, the program prepares graduates for careers in areas like visual identity, digital experience design, and interdisciplinary creative industries, fostering adaptability and innovation in a rapidly evolving design landscape.
