COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design program requires students to complete a total of 120 credits, combining foundational design courses, specialized design studios, electives, and program options to prepare graduates as versatile, creative, and skilled designers. Core coursework includes foundational courses in drawing, visual organization, composition, typography, digital experience design, concept visualization, interaction design, design research, and the history of visual communication and modern design. Students progress through a series of design studios, culminating in applied design research and a capstone project that integrates technical skill, conceptual thinking, and professional practice. English requirements include ENGL 102 and a choice of three additional credits from selected literature courses. Students are required to complete 24 credits of electives, of which at least nine must be from the social sciences, three from the School of Business, and the remaining twelve from other approved courses, with restrictions on certain courses. Program options include six credits from DESN courses, which must be completed within the program and cannot be transferred. Additionally, students complete 21 credits of program options or electives, allowing them to customize their learning while adhering to restrictions on course levels and excluded courses. This combination of theory, practice, interdisciplinary electives, and flexible program options ensures graduates are equipped with a broad skill set in visual communication, digital experience design, design research, and professional practice, ready to meet the demands of creative industries and design-focused careers.
