COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources Management Honours program provides students with an in-depth understanding of human resources practices, organizational behaviour, and workforce management while preparing them to conduct independent research. Core courses cover essential HR topics including management of human resources, employee relations, recruitment and selection, compensation, labour relations, health and safety, learning and development, HR analytics, strategic HR management, and legal issues in the workplace, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Honours designation requires students to select two additional senior-level courses approved by their thesis supervisor, complete a research methods course, and undertake the Honours thesis in human resources management, allowing them to design and execute an original research project under faculty supervision. Students also complete non-business electives to broaden their academic perspective and open electives to tailor their learning to personal interests. This rigorous program emphasizes analytical thinking, data-driven decision-making, and strategic problem-solving, preparing graduates to excel in HR leadership roles, pursue graduate studies, or engage in specialized HR research. By combining comprehensive coursework with independent research, the program develops both the technical expertise and critical thinking abilities necessary to manage the human side of business effectively and contribute to organizational success in a dynamic professional environment.
