COURSE CURRICULUM

The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning (HRAC) program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across four semesters. In the first semester, students build foundational skills in electrical fundamentals, gas fundamentals, refrigeration basics, and technical math, alongside essential communication skills. The second semester advances electrical controls, gaseous fuel supply and venting, refrigeration systems, and introduces global changemaker concepts. In semester three, students delve into air conditioning fundamentals, building codes, gas appliance installation and service, residential HVAC system design, and general education electives. The final semester focuses on industrial, commercial, and institutional air conditioning systems, green building technologies, decorative gas appliances, hydronic systems, and professional communication tailored to HRAC technicians, with further general education courses to broaden skills. Throughout the program, hands-on labs reinforce concepts such as electrical circuitry, gas piping, refrigeration cycle analysis, and system installation, preparing students to meet industry standards and safety codes. Students learn to interpret technical drawings, apply building codes, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. This program ensures graduates are well-prepared to design, install, service, and maintain energy-efficient HVAC and refrigeration systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
