COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management at Laurentian University is an on-site program designed to prepare students for successful careers in HR by combining core business knowledge with specialized human resources training. Students must complete 60 credits of core BBA courses with a minimum grade of C, including foundational subjects like financial information, microeconomics, macroeconomics, management, business ethics, mathematics, and Indigenous content. Upper-year required courses focus on management accounting, financial management, organizational behaviour, human resources management, commercial law, strategic management, marketing, operations, management information systems, and business statistics. Students choose one of three international business-related courses: international finance, international management, or international marketing. The Human Resources Management specialization requires 27 credits with courses such as training and development, recruitment and selection, compensation management, and topics in organizational behaviour or occupational health and safety. Students also select electives relevant to their HR focus from a broad list of options that include coop placements, internships, small business counseling, case analysis, and management information systems. Additionally, students must complete 9 credits of approved electives related to thematic areas such as Indigenous studies, communication, labour economics, psychology, sociology, gender studies, and labour law, allowing a multidisciplinary perspective on workplace issues. This structure ensures that graduates develop a deep understanding of human resources functions, labour relations, workplace health and safety, and intercultural communication while honing practical skills through experiential learning opportunities. The program prepares students for dynamic HR roles in diverse, evolving workplaces both in Canada and abroad.
