COURSE CURRICULUM

The Jewellery Design program at LaSalle College Vancouver is structured across three quarters, each building on essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the field. In Quarter 1, students begin with Metalwork I, where they learn foundational techniques in metalworking, paired with Jewellery Illustration to develop their drawing and conceptual skills. They also study 3D Modelling and Fabrication I, gaining hands-on experience with digital design tools, alongside Jewellery History and Trends to understand the cultural and historical context of their craft.Quarter 2 deepens technical and creative expertise through Metalwork II and introduces Alternative Materials for Jewellery I, encouraging experimentation beyond traditional metals. Students continue to advance their digital skills with 3D Modelling and Fabrication II and focus on Concept Development for Jewellery, emphasizing the creative process from idea generation to refined design.In Quarter 3, students take Metalwork III to master more advanced metalworking techniques and Alternative Materials for Jewellery II to expand their material knowledge. The Design Studio course provides a collaborative, studio-based environment to apply learned skills to individual projects. Finally, Jewellery Portfolio prepares students to compile and present their best work professionally, readying them for career opportunities or further study. This comprehensive curriculum balances traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies and creative exploration, equipping students to innovate and succeed in the jewellery industry.
