COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in 3D Modeling for Animation & Games at LaSalle College Vancouver is structured into four comprehensive quarters, each designed to build upon the previous one and provide students with the technical and creative skills necessary for the industry. In the first quarter, students are introduced to basic 3D concepts alongside foundational courses such as 2D Animation I, Digital Storyboarding, and Compositing I. These courses establish a strong base in both traditional and digital animation principles. The second quarter focuses on advancing 3D modeling skills, covering 3D Modeling I, Character Modeling, Environment Modeling, and an introduction to Materials and Textures I, as well as Lighting and Rendering I. This quarter emphasizes creating detailed models and understanding how materials and lighting affect visual outcomes. The third quarter delves deeper into technical aspects such as Rigging, advanced Character Modeling II, and Brush Based Modeling, with continued development in Materials and Textures II and Lighting and Rendering II, preparing students for complex animation and game projects. The final quarter integrates script programming and a 3D Modeling Studio course, culminating in a Final Diploma Capstone project that allows students to showcase their cumulative skills through a polished, professional portfolio piece. This curriculum ensures graduates are well-prepared to enter the competitive fields of animation and game design, equipped with both creative expertise and industry-standard technical knowledge.
