COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Design Diploma program at LaSalle College Vancouver consists of five quarters that cover a comprehensive range of topics to develop students' skills and knowledge in the field. In the first quarter, students focus on foundational skills such as drawing, architectural drawing, design and colour theory, presentation techniques, and an introduction to interior design. The second quarter introduces commercial design with a focus on retail spaces, computer-aided design I, materials and resources, critical thinking, and art history focusing on early civilizations. In the third quarter, students study residential design I alongside computer-aided design II, textiles, lighting studies and application, and continue art history with a focus on early modern to contemporary periods. The fourth quarter deepens commercial design knowledge with a corporate focus, computer-aided design III, building systems and materials, codes and barrier-free design, and business for interior design. The final quarter focuses on residential design II, computer-aided design IV, ergonomics and psychology of design, portfolio development, and career development. This well-rounded curriculum combines technical skills with creative and critical thinking to prepare students for professional roles in the interior design industry.
