COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design program spans nine quarters and is structured to build both technical proficiency and creative vision in future interior designers. In Quarter 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Drawing, Architectural Drawing, Design and Colour Theory, Mathematics, and Rhetoric and Composition. Quarter 2 introduces Commercial Design (Retail), Computer-aided Design I, Materials and Resources, Geometry, and Academic Writing. In Quarter 3, the focus shifts to Residential Design I, CAD II, Textiles, Lighting Studies and Application I, and early art history. Quarter 4 expands into Commercial Design II (Corporate), CAD III, Building Systems and Materials, Codes/Barrier Free Design, and Art History II. Quarter 5 delves deeper with Residential Design II, CAD IV, Ergonomics and Psychology of Design, Critical Thinking, and Design Theory. In Quarter 6, students take Hospitality Design, Design Documents and Technology I, Interior and Architectural Detailing, Business for Interior Design, and Fundamentals of Sociology. Quarter 7 includes three Interior Design Electives across Design, Tech, and Tools Streams, along with Career Development and Research Methodologies. Quarter 8 focuses on capstone preparation through Senior Project Research and Design, Energy Efficiency and Lighting, Internship and Mentorship I, and Fundamentals of Psychology. Finally, Quarter 9 culminates in the presentation of the Senior Project, Design Documents and Technology IV, a final Interior Design Elective, Internship and Mentorship II, and Senior Portfolio development. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience with industry tools, sustainability practices, and real-world applications, preparing them to meet the demands of the dynamic interior design industry.
