COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design at LaSalle College Vancouver is a comprehensive 120-credit program delivered over 8 quarters, blending creativity, technology, and sustainability. In Quarter 1, students build foundational skills in Drawing, Design and Colour Theory, Digital Imaging, Concept Development, and Rhetoric and Composition. Quarter 2 deepens this base with Typography, Digital Illustration, Digital Imaging II, Fundamentals of User-Centred Design, and History of Art in Early Civilizations. In Quarter 3, students advance to Advanced Typography, Electronic Design, Production Procedures, Fundamentals of Sustainable Design, and History and Analysis of Design. Quarter 4 introduces brand-focused work with Corporate Identity, Advertising, Studio Elective, Web Development, and Principles of Sustainable Design. The creative momentum continues in Quarter 5 with Portfolio I, Design Studio, UX/UI Design, Studio Elective, Mathematics, and Research Methodologies. Quarter 6 integrates visual storytelling and digital tools through Art Direction, Digital Photography, Computer Animation for Multimedia, Studio Elective, and Liberal Studies Elective. In Quarter 7, students polish their industry readiness through Professional Practices, Advanced Design Studio, Senior Project, Capstone, and Sustainable Design Standards. The program culminates in Quarter 8 with Senior Portfolio, Studio Elective, Advanced Web Development, and Sustainable Design Leadership. Throughout the program, students explore ethical, sustainable design practices, develop a strong visual language, and prepare a professional portfolio that reflects their creative direction and readiness to lead in a dynamic design industry. With a balance of technical skill-building and conceptual development, graduates are equipped to meet the demands of today’s global and evolving design market.
