COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Arts degree requires a total of 60 credits consisting of first- and second-year courses across multiple disciplines. Students must complete 6 credits in first-year English, choosing two courses such as Rhetoric and Composition, Academic Writing, Introduction to Literature, or World Literature. Science requirements total 9 credits, including one quantitative course from options like Mathematics, Statistics, Calculus, or Geometry, one laboratory science course such as Biology or Chemistry, and one additional science or mathematics-related course. The Arts requirement includes 36 credits, with students selecting courses from humanities (e.g., History of Art, Cultural Theory, Ethics), social sciences (e.g., Microeconomics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology), and other arts courses including Business Communications and Film Studies. In addition, students choose six second-year arts courses from a range of advanced topics like Theories of Modernism and Postmodernism, Media Business Law, Creative Writing, Cognitive Psychology, and Sustainable Design Standards. Finally, 9 elective credits may be earned from any remaining courses across arts, sciences, or other approved areas, including courses like Advanced Communications, Introduction to Theatre, Environmental Science, and Organizational Psychology. This structure ensures a broad, interdisciplinary foundation that develops critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills while allowing students to explore diverse academic interests, preparing them for transfer to further undergraduate studies or various career paths.
