COURSE CURRICULUM

LaSalle College Montréal’s Interior Design DCS program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to cultivate both creative and technical expertise essential for successful careers in interior design. The concentration courses span various disciplines within the field, starting with foundational subjects such as Materials and Finishes, Applied Color, Technical Drawing Standards, and Sketching. Students progress to digital skills with courses like Execution Plan using CAD and BIM, 3D Modeling, and Architectural Drawing. A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on learning through a series of workshops—ranging from Residential Design to complex Commercial, Industrial, and Public Design projects—allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Creativity is continuously developed through sequential creativity courses, while technical skills are enhanced through Furniture Design, Lighting Concepts, and Certification and Innovation modules. The program also includes business-oriented courses like Business Communication and culminates in a Final Project and Internship, providing industry exposure. Supporting the concentration courses are general education components: 3 Physical Education courses (90 hours), 3 Philosophy courses (150 hours), 4 Language and Literature courses (140 hours), 2 Second Language courses (90 hours), and 2 Complementary courses (90 hours), designed to develop well-rounded graduates with critical thinking, communication, and cultural literacy skills. This multidisciplinary and immersive approach ensures students graduate with a professional portfolio and are prepared to thrive in various interior design roles.
