COURSE CURRICULUM

The program requires a minimum of 60 credits to complete and offers a comprehensive curriculum focusing on peace, conflict, and social studies. All students must attend PCCN 1105, a zero-credit lecture series with guest speakers on peace and conflict topics, complemented by a journal assignment. Core courses include PCCN 1202 (Conflict and Conflict Resolution) and POLI 1145 (Peace and Conflict in the Modern World), each worth 3 credits. Students choose one English course from foundational writing classes such as ENGL 1100, 1123, 1127, or 1128, and one literature course from options including ENGL 1129 or 1130. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary study, allowing students to select six courses from a wide range of subjects including anthropology, environmental studies, history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, women’s studies, and religious studies. Notable course options include ANTH 1120 (Introduction to Cultural Anthropology), ENVS 2410 (Environmental Law), HIST 2255 (History of the Modern Middle East), PHIL 1100 (Introduction to Philosophy), PSYC 1115 (Introduction to Biological, Cognitive, and Developmental Psychology), and SOCI 2210 (Racism and Ethnic Relations). The curriculum also explores issues such as indigenous concerns, social movements, gender studies, and globalization through courses like CNST 1120 (Canadian First Nations' Concerns), WMST 1116 (Investigating Women’s Realities), and SOCI 2240 (Contemporary Social Movements).
