COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology Program at Langara College requires the completion of 60 credits and is structured to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the field of kinesiology. Core courses include KINS 1110 Human Anatomy, KINS 1120 Health and Exercise Management, KINS 1131 and 1132 Systems Physiology I and II, KINS 1150 Sport and Exercise Psychology, and KINS 1160 Leisure and Sport in Society, all of which contribute to a strong understanding of the human body, health principles, and the social context of sport and exercise. Advanced coursework includes KINS 2030 Physical Activity, Health, and Wellness, KINS 2205 Research Methods in Kinesiology, KINS 2211 Human Motor Behaviour, KINS 2215 Biomechanics I, KINS 2235 Exercise Physiology, and KINS 2262 Health Policy and Society, allowing students to explore deeper topics in health science and movement. Students must also choose between KINS 2206 Introduction to Statistics in Kinesiology or KINS 2280 Human Growth and Motor Development, providing a tailored approach based on individual interests. Additionally, two university-transferable English courses (6 credits) are required to develop communication and academic writing skills. To fulfill the credit requirements, students must also complete five electives from either KINS or other university-transferable courses (15 credits), offering flexibility and the opportunity to explore specialized interests or meet specific university transfer prerequisites. Altogether, the curriculum is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and academic qualifications necessary for successful transfer to a university degree program in kinesiology or a related field.
