COURSE CURRICULUM

Students must complete a minimum of 60 credits, beginning with core courses including General Chemistry I and II (CHEM 1120 and 1220), each worth 4 credits. Students then choose one organic chemistry course from Organic Chemistry for the Biological Sciences (CHEM 2216) or Organic Chemistry I (CHEM 2316), both 4 credits. Additionally, students select three courses from advanced chemistry topics such as Science Projects (CHEM 2100), Coordination Chemistry (CHEM 2208), Analytical Chemistry (CHEM 2222), Physical Chemistry for the Life Sciences (CHEM 2250), or Organic Chemistry II (CHEM 2416), each valued at 4 credits. Communication skills are addressed through the selection of two courses from a range including Interpersonal Communications (CMNS 1115), Written Communications (CMNS 1118), or several English courses like Introduction to Academic Writing (ENGL 1123), Essay Writing (ENGL 1127), Short Prose Selections (ENGL 1128), Modern Novel, Poetry, and Drama (ENGL 1129), or Modern Novel, Poetry, and Film (ENGL 1130), each typically 3 credits. Alternatively, Science Literacy courses (SCIE 1113 or SCIE 1114) worth 4 credits may be taken. Mathematics requirements include either Introduction to Calculus I Parts I and II (MATH 1153 and 1253) totaling 6 credits, or Calculus I (MATH 1171 or 1173 plus 1183), totaling 4 credits. Students must also complete four university-transferable arts courses (12 credits) and between three to five university-transferable science courses (9 to 15 credits), ensuring a balanced education across sciences and humanities within the 60-credit requirement.
