COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Arts and Science at Langara College requires the successful completion of a minimum of 60 credits. These credits are structured to provide students with both academic breadth and the flexibility to explore areas of personal or professional interest. To meet the diploma requirements, students must complete six credits of first-year, university-transferable English. This ensures that graduates develop strong communication and analytical writing skills applicable across disciplines. Additionally, students must complete 39 credits from university-transferable courses categorized under science, social science, or humanities. These courses allow students to engage with a diverse range of subjects, from biology and chemistry to sociology, history, and philosophy, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking. To complement these core requirements, students are required to complete 15 additional credits from any courses that are eligible to be used toward a Langara College credential. This allows students to pursue electives, deepen their study in a specific field, or even begin preparing for transfer into a degree program. To be eligible for graduation, students must also achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The structure of the Arts and Science diploma is designed to be adaptable, supporting students who may wish to enter the workforce upon graduation or those planning to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor's degree. With a wide range of course options and the ability to focus on a chosen concentration, this diploma provides a solid academic foundation and cultivates the versatile skills valued in many professional fields.
