COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Art History requires a total of 30 credits and offers students a comprehensive foundation in visual literacy and art appreciation. The curriculum begins with a choice between key introductory courses such as Visual Culture I and II, Western Art from Prehistory to the Renaissance and from the Renaissance to the Present, or a combination of Modern Art and Contemporary Art. These foundational courses provide students with broad historical and cultural contexts for understanding art across different periods and styles. Students then complete 12 credits of Art History courses, which may include specialized classes like FINA 2150 and 2250, allowing for deeper exploration of specific topics or techniques within the field. In addition to art history courses, students must complete 12 credits of university-transferable electives, giving them flexibility to broaden their academic experience and tailor their studies to complement their interests or career goals.
