COURSE CURRICULUM

The Internet and Web Technology Certificate program at Langara College requires the completion of 30 credits and is structured to provide students with comprehensive technical skills for entry-level positions in web development and IT support. The curriculum begins with foundational courses such as CPSC 1030 Web Development I and CPSC 1045 Introduction to Web Programming, which introduce students to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web-based application development. CPSC 1150 Program Design and CPSC 1181 Object-Oriented Computing focus on essential programming concepts and the use of object-oriented paradigms. To build further versatility, students take CPSC 1280 Unix Tools and Scripting, where they learn shell scripting in Unix-based environments, and CPSC 1480 Networking, which provides knowledge of network architecture and protocols. The curriculum continues with more advanced training through CPSC 2030 Web Development II, expanding on modern frameworks and responsive design, and CPSC 2130 Multimedia and Animation, introducing the integration of visual content and interactivity for the web. CPSC 2221 Data Base Systems provides a solid background in relational databases and SQL. For the final elective, students choose between CPSC 2261 Web Technology, which focuses on backend systems and services, or CPSC 2600 Full Stack Web Development I, which integrates both client-side and server-side development in full stack environments. Together, these courses offer students a well-rounded skill set in programming, web development, databases, scripting, and IT infrastructure, preparing them for immediate employment or further studies in the tech field.
