COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum for this program requires students to complete a total of 60 credits, encompassing a comprehensive blend of computer science, mathematics, and statistics courses designed to build strong analytical and computational skills. Core computer science courses include CPSC 1150 (Program Design) and CPSC 1181 (Object-oriented Computing), each worth 3 credits, providing foundational programming knowledge and object-oriented principles. In mathematics, students study advanced topics such as MATH 2362 (Linear Algebra), MATH 2371 (Calculus III), MATH 2373 (Real Analysis), and MATH 2475 (Differential Equations), all of which are 3-credit courses that deepen understanding of mathematical theory and applications. Statistics courses STAT 1181 (Descriptive and Elementary Inferential Statistics) and STAT 2281 (Probability and Elementary Mathematical Statistics), both 3 credits, introduce essential concepts in data analysis and probability theory. Students must also complete either CPSC 1160 (Algorithms and Data Structures I) or CPSC 2190 (Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science), both critical for understanding computational complexity and algorithm design. Foundational calculus courses are required as well, with options including MATH 1153 and 1253 (Introduction to Calculus I Parts I and II), or MATH 1171/1173 paired with computer exploration courses MATH 1183 and MATH 1283, as well as MATH 1271 or 1273 for Calculus II with optional computer explorations.
